OMG, The Great Gatsby is coming out on Friday, and I, like so many others can hardly wait to see it! Fashion Magazine is clearly excited too, as they asked their style panel how to wear an outfit inspired by the 1920′s without looking like a costume, here is what I said.

BLUENOTES

On May 14th 2013, you should wear new jeans to celebrate and create awareness for the National Denim Day in support of the Cure Foundation to fight against breast cancer. Bluenotes will donate a portion of proceeds from each denim purchase nationwide from May 13 to May 19, 2013. Founded in 1996, the CURE Foundation has raised nearly $25 million, with National Denim Day as it’s largest initiative.

Bluenotes Spring/Summer collection has this season’s hottest denim trends from the oversized shorts, ombré shirts to the polka dot cropped skinny jeans, all available at crazy affordable prices.

Please feel free to click here to make a donation directly to The Cure Foundation and help ensure that not one life is lost to breast cancer due to a lack of funding.

Through the Japanese Embassy, Canada received cherry trees to a number of locations like High Park in Toronto and Vancouver, back in 1959, to symbolize a growing friendship between the two countries. If you are downtown Toronto this week, walk through this garden to be truly amazed. I highly recommend getting down there sometime as this place is magical.

With the weather warming up, we are super excited to wear all of the new dresses we’ve picked up, but I’m not quite ready to put away my boots. I live in a tiny little apartment, where only half my wardrobe can fit into my tiny closet at a time. It’s okay, I plan ahead  for the season really well and have learned to deal with the concept of storage. I currently am still in winter, caused by busy work schedules and I’m okay with that. My boots are still out and good to rock for a few more days, before being replaced by sandals.

So it’s spring and in Toronto we can clearly feel it. Now it’s time to dress like it. We get so comfortable wearing dark colours and dressing in sweaters during the winter, that when the welcomed warmer weather hits, sometimes our wardrobe is confused. It’s time to bring out your bright and cheerful outfits that make you feel good.  Go for colours that will work well with your skin tone, hair, and of course the heat (as in darker colours when you’re outside make you warmer), I love this bright yellow as it works as a strong contrast to my fiery red hair.

I get asked what inspires my looks, and truthfully I look for the craziest things, question if I can pull it off and try it on. Usually if I’ve gotten this far, my decision has already been made. When getting dressed, I take risks and I often have asked my fiancé, Trevor if a outfit is too much. My theory is to always go for it at the end of the day it’s only fashion and you should have fun with it!
